Daxton Arrives!

As you can see.. I suck at blogging. I look at my blog
and think.. "Oh I need to update my blog." Do I ever update it... well.. you can answer that question.

On January 21st I started having contractions at 8:30 pm. I thought they were false labor, like I had days before. But then a couple hours later my contractions were so bad we went to the hospital. They gave me the news that I was still only dilated to a 2 like I had been for 2 weeks before. I was so mad!

They sent me home with a sleeping pill told me to take a bath and relax. I could barely walk out of the hospital I was in so much pain. After I got home at about 12:00 I was in so much pain even with the sleeping pill. I went and took a bath, but my contractions were 3 minutes apart so me and Chase decided to go back to the hospital. By this time it was 2:30 am. When I went back in they seemed surprised to see me. They then checked me again and I was dilated to a 5. Time for my epidural! As soon as I got it I felt so much better, and so did Chase. He crashed on the couch. But not for long.

The nurse checked me, my water broke and then I was dilated to a 9 by 4:30. I started to push at 6:40 and during labor Daxton's heart rate dropped for a couple minutes. They thought the cord was wrapped around his neck which made them of course worry. I then had my baby boy Daxton James on January 22nd at 6:51 a.m. He weighed 6 pounds 10.5 ounces, and was 21 inches long. The cord wasn't wrapped around his neck but he wasn't crying or breathing.

As they took him over to get checked out all I could see was him getting very blue. I was so scared when they called an
emergency team in but then I finally heard his little cry. It was
such a relief!!!

We took Daxton home on Tuesday and then on Thursday morning at 4:00 am he had a fever. We took him to the E.R. and he was dehydrated so we started giving him formula on top of breast milk. They wanted us to take him to his pediatrician at 10:30 am (still on Thursday) to check on him, so we went. The pediatrician was worried about him because he had dropped down to 5pounds 14 ounces. He was then re admitted to the hospital the same week he was born!! I stayed with him for a couple nights as they monitored him. He had a spinal tap and had to get pumped full of antibiotics. It was one of the scariest things in my life! I was so glad that we had family and friends praying for him. I know it helped him get better quick. They ended up finding out he had an ear infection on top of dehydration. My poor baby boy :(

Daxton is now almost a month and a
half. He is getting so big! He has been smiling for about 2 weeks now and is just one of the best things in our lives :) He keeps trying to laugh but cant quite get it yet.

Of course I could talk about Daxton all day, but there are other things to talk about! Two days ago was the year anniversary of my sister Britney's car accident. It is so crazy it has already been a
year!! I am so very blessed to have her in my life today. I don't know how I would have handled losing her. I look up to her and love her so much. She is my best friend. This weekend we are celebrating her life and my dads birthday by going out to lunch!!! Yay!! Hopefully I will get some pictures of that to post.

Life is just going so great lately! We are planning a trip to San Diego with my in laws in June that I CANNOT wait for, along with a camp out trip to Bear Lake with my family in August!! Let the partying begin!
