Well it has been a week since my last post and it has been a good one. On Saturday we had all of my brothers sisters, neice, great neice, and spouses all meet up for lunch at Olive Garden to celebrate my dads birthday. It was so nice to see everyone and catch up on our lives, and also to eat delicious food! Olive Garden never gets old.

On Sunday my sister Britney came to visit! She stayed till Tuesday and we had so much fun! We had a shopping day, and was just lazy the rest. I love having Britney come and stay with us. She is so funny!! It seems like whenever we are around each other or even talking on the phone we are always just laughing. She is also so talented!!! She took our family pictures and some pictures of Daxton. They are amazing.

Now time to update on Daxton. He giggled for the first time on Monday!!! He giggles just a little bit you have to watch for it. He is just the cutest thing! He does a little giggle around 23 seconds into the video. I kinda talk a little bit sorry.

I hope you caught it :) Anyway, something else about Daxton is he hates his baths. He screams every time he gets one. But today is the first day he didn't scream! He actually loved his bath today! I can just see him growing more and more each day. He is such a good baby who sleeps six hours straight every night, and he doesn't cry very often, unless he is hungry, or needs a change. We love him so much, and we are so blessed to have him in our lives.
Now an update for me and Chase.... There isn't much of one! I stay at home with Daxton and take care of the house while Chase is working very hard to support us. I am so thankful for him and all of the hard work he does for me and Daxton. He is an amazing husband and father. I don't know what I would do without him in my life. Well that's about all of the updates I have today! Love you all!

Daxton Arrives!

As you can see.. I suck at blogging. I look at my blog
and think.. "Oh I need to update my blog." Do I ever update it... well.. you can answer that question.

On January 21st I started having contractions at 8:30 pm. I thought they were false labor, like I had days before. But then a couple hours later my contractions were so bad we went to the hospital. They gave me the news that I was still only dilated to a 2 like I had been for 2 weeks before. I was so mad!

They sent me home with a sleeping pill told me to take a bath and relax. I could barely walk out of the hospital I was in so much pain. After I got home at about 12:00 I was in so much pain even with the sleeping pill. I went and took a bath, but my contractions were 3 minutes apart so me and Chase decided to go back to the hospital. By this time it was 2:30 am. When I went back in they seemed surprised to see me. They then checked me again and I was dilated to a 5. Time for my epidural! As soon as I got it I felt so much better, and so did Chase. He crashed on the couch. But not for long.

The nurse checked me, my water broke and then I was dilated to a 9 by 4:30. I started to push at 6:40 and during labor Daxton's heart rate dropped for a couple minutes. They thought the cord was wrapped around his neck which made them of course worry. I then had my baby boy Daxton James on January 22nd at 6:51 a.m. He weighed 6 pounds 10.5 ounces, and was 21 inches long. The cord wasn't wrapped around his neck but he wasn't crying or breathing.

As they took him over to get checked out all I could see was him getting very blue. I was so scared when they called an
emergency team in but then I finally heard his little cry. It was
such a relief!!!

We took Daxton home on Tuesday and then on Thursday morning at 4:00 am he had a fever. We took him to the E.R. and he was dehydrated so we started giving him formula on top of breast milk. They wanted us to take him to his pediatrician at 10:30 am (still on Thursday) to check on him, so we went. The pediatrician was worried about him because he had dropped down to 5pounds 14 ounces. He was then re admitted to the hospital the same week he was born!! I stayed with him for a couple nights as they monitored him. He had a spinal tap and had to get pumped full of antibiotics. It was one of the scariest things in my life! I was so glad that we had family and friends praying for him. I know it helped him get better quick. They ended up finding out he had an ear infection on top of dehydration. My poor baby boy :(

Daxton is now almost a month and a
half. He is getting so big! He has been smiling for about 2 weeks now and is just one of the best things in our lives :) He keeps trying to laugh but cant quite get it yet.

Of course I could talk about Daxton all day, but there are other things to talk about! Two days ago was the year anniversary of my sister Britney's car accident. It is so crazy it has already been a
year!! I am so very blessed to have her in my life today. I don't know how I would have handled losing her. I look up to her and love her so much. She is my best friend. This weekend we are celebrating her life and my dads birthday by going out to lunch!!! Yay!! Hopefully I will get some pictures of that to post.

Life is just going so great lately! We are planning a trip to San Diego with my in laws in June that I CANNOT wait for, along with a camp out trip to Bear Lake with my family in August!! Let the partying begin!

Britney's Accident

This is the driver's side of the car. Don't zoom in if you are squeamish. You can see blood. I'm not trying to freak anyone out, but this picture really impacted me.

Britney and My dad. I love seeing her attempt a smile. This picture shows one of the very few coherent moments she's had.

I talked to Britney on Thursday and we talked about her plans to take an impromptu trip with her girlfriend, Megan, to California. They were going to leave at 3am on Saturday, the 4th and drive home some time on Sunday. After much deliberation and giddy excitement, they decided that sleep wasn't necessary and that they would leave at 11pm Friday night. She slept for a few hours and I woke her up at 9:30 so she could get ready to go. Now, for some background, Britney is 22 and was married at age 20 but her hubby decided that he wasn't jive with marriage anymore and they split up last April, with the divorce being finalized in August of 2010. Since then, she has been working as a waitress and living with my parents. Thankfully, there were no children caught up in this, but she wants to be a mommy so bad, and I hated to see that dream taken from her, even though I know she will fulfill that dream some day. (sorry, the later it is, the more long-winded I am). At 7:30 on Saturday morning my mom got a phone call from Battle Mountain Hospital in Nevada. As soon as the phone rang, I knew it was something bad to do with Britney. There is no preparation for that feeling in your gut like you just swallowed a brick. Even though I'm an optimist for the most part, I knew that this was serious. All we could do was wait to find out where they were going to life-flight her to. The accident had occurred at 5am in Battle Mountain, Nevada. Finally, after noticing significant amounts of blood in her urine, they decided to take the faster route and transfer her to Reno, NV instead of Salt Lake City, which would have cost her an extra 15 min. My parents left to drive to Reno and my brother, Russell used his frequent flyer miles to fly out on the first available flight. Britney's condition is considered 'severe' because she has four fractured ribs, a punctured spleen, bruised liver, fluid around her kidneys and lungs, a broken lower back, and a broken pelvis bone. This is what they know so far. They are taking her in for surgery on her pelvis today around noon and will get some additional x-rays at that time to check for a possible broken shoulder, arm, and femur. If you will bear with me, I will explain how the wreck happened as far as I know from what Britney's friends, my family, and the cops have told us:

Britney's friend, Brian, was driving the car (we didn't know any one else was going with them) and his friend, Stephen was riding shotgun. Brit's friend, Megan was behind the passenger seat and Britney was, for reasons unknown, buckled in to the middle seatbelt rather than the one behind the driver. From what I've been told, Brian fell asleep while driving on the freeway and ran into a barrier that divided the lanes. The impact of the initial hit made Britney's seatbelt pop and she was ejected from the car and flew 140 ft into a nearby area (thankfully, not the road)the passenger was ejected from the car and Megan was as well. The car flipped up and landed driver's-side-down on the barrier. The impact killed Brian, and would have killed Britney had she not been thrown. Stephen is, as far as I know, doing okay, and Megan is prepping to have surgery to fix a broken wrist and shoulder tomorrow. My heart breaks for Brian and his family. It also breaks because I know how tough this will be on Britney when she learns of it. Mentally, she is not aware of much at all right now. Miraculously, she woke up tonight and announced that she was hungry! Up til now all she has said is, 'thank you' 'yes' and 'no.' When her friends spoke to her tonight and said they had a care package for her, she responded, "Oh, no! I didn't get anything for you!". I talked to her again and she told me she loved me, missed me, and she said Keli, I wish you were here. I was blessed with an opportunity to talk with her tonight. She doesn't sound much like herself because she is swollen on her face, but it meant so much to me to know I had the chance to tell her how much I love her. To think how close I came to losing her scares me so much I almost can't breath. My family is everything to me and I realize it now, more than ever, how crucial it is to spread that love on a daily basis. My sister, Tabitha, and I are staying at my mom's house this week to care for my grandma while my mom and dad are in Reno. To keep our worried heads busy, we are going to make Britney a very fun crazy quilt that we can give her when they transfer her to SLC, which will hopefully be within a week or two. If anyone in blogger land has spare fabric to share, please comment and let me know ! Thanks so much for all the love and support and prayers so many of you have already offered on Britney's behalf. I will do my best to keep everyone updated.
Lots of love,
Keli

Its About Time!

I have been wanting to start a blog for a very long time! Well, now is that time! Me and my wonderful husband Chase got married on April 17, 2010 in the Logan Temple which was about 10 months ago. I can't believe it has already been 10 months! Since we have been married we have been very busy. We lived in Logan in a little town house for about 2 months. Then I got a job being a secretary for my sister-in-law Brittney in Layton!! We very quickly moved to Farmington where we have our cute little apartment. Chase Transferred to a different location with Chase Bank. He is also going to school at Weber State and taking good care of me! I love him very much! He moved for me and my job and is always supporting me no matter what. Our life together so far has been amazing. He loves my family, and I love his. We all get along so well and we are all there for each other. I am excited to see where our life together is gonna take us and I am ready for anything that comes our way.
